Is there a chance that South Africa has a population greater than 95 million?
What would that mean for:
What led us to ask this question?
As a Fiber Network Operator, we build and deploy fiber.
Infrastructure development requires prioritisation and careful planning from a demand and supply forecast perspective.
We have connected more than 250,000 homes and planned more than 2 million.
We used these samples to extrapolate and compare against government sources like StatsSA Census 2011, Department of Water Affairs Settlements and our own planning data sources.
Because we focus on continued improvement and innovation, we have used some of the latest technologies in aerial imaging and drone photography, combined with AI and machine learning to inform our planning estimates.
Like many of our peers, this has allowed us to see a picture emerging.
We believe if we put our pictures (and thinking) together in lively debate, South Africa can benefit.
